Free Chlorination of Water System Now Underway

The City of Sunrise Utilities Department maintains the highest quality standards to provide clean, safe drinking water to customers in its service area, which includes the cities of Sunrise, Weston, Southwest Ranches and parts of Davie. Through December 2nd, the Utilities Department is using "free" chlorine in its drinking water treatment system to provide additional protection against bacteria.

This temporary treatment of the water system is a common practice for water suppliers that use a chlorine (chloramine) water treatment method. This periodic program is mandated by the Broward County Health Department.

The procedure does not cause any adverse health effects. However, some individuals may notice a slight change in the taste, odor or color of the water during this time.

For more information regarding the City of Sunrise's treatment system, please contact the Utilities Department at (954) 888-6000.
